Is it healthy for our children to be taught by predominantly liberal teachers?

Approximately 72% identify themselves as liberals.
Should the government legislate that equal voice must be given to conservatives?
It is virtually impossible to hide your world view from your students.
Is this what parents want for their children?
Does this have anything to do with the fact that the US scores near the bottom of the industrialized world in math and science exams and that colleges need to create more and more remedial classes to get incoming freshmen up to the point of learning at a college level?

The rest of the industrial world’s teachers are much more liberal than the US
Yes, because then we know that our children is learning.
No one is preventing cons from being teachers, the fact is they don’t want to do it or they are not qualified. As far as math and science: I don’t see any liberals protesting evolution in the biology class.
I will agree with cons on one point: education funding does not necessarily lead to better students.
Teachers should be coming down hard on students, unfortunately it’s often the parents who start crying when they try to do this. I blame this situation on the softening of America rather than just the teachers.
again—where are all these liberal teachers and professors? They’re all conservative church ladies where I’m from…!!?
I’d love for the Fairness Doctrine to involve TV news and education, as well as talk radio. In which case I might actually consider supporting it.
If you don’t like it, home school them.
Yup.
Liberals are drawn to education.
Conservatives are too greedy to do a job for the love of it. They’re all about the bucks first and the job second.
Live with it or home school your kids!
Yes.
Conservatives are too stupid to understand anything, much less teach it to our kids.
Can you imaging right wing being taught. No evolution. Bible study. Guns, What a crock.
I hale from Texas & most teacher there are not liberal. It all depends on the region. School districts reflect the social & political beliefs of the members of the community. Sadly, liberal or conservative, half of our young now struggle to graduate from high school in 4 years.

Your link does not work btw.
Maybe you should ask yourself why the teachers identify themselves as liberal.
Children should be exposed to multiple viewpoints in the world, it is ridiculous to think they will never encounter someone who doesn’t share their viewpoint.
Parents should be able to accept that teachers don’t necessarily share their political views and help their kids learn to think critically about topics, not just accept the viewpoint of their parent or teacher.
More likely the reason that most educators are liberal is because reality is liberal. People who have a deep understanding of the issues tend to be liberal, because that is the philosophy that most closely aligns with reality.
If you look at the demographics, you will see that the blue states have educational systems that are on par with the rest of the world, only the red states pull the averages down. Maine and Iowa are two examples, compared to Alabama and Mississippi.
This is because dems put more emphasis on education, while the reps want to go to war again to support the local arms merchant or oil company.
Most young people have liberal ideas to begin with. It is too bad that they don’t get a broader picture of the world, but probably not a lot of harm is done. They don’t change until they get out into the real world & fend for themselves. Liberals thrive in ‘protected environments’. Conservatives do not.
Real life is a better teacher…
Statistically, children from schools in affluent neighborhoods score just as high as the highest country (Singapore) in math and science. It’s the low-income schools that don’t do well. The best teachers want to go to the high income areas.
That’s why teachers need to be paid more, especially entry-level teachers (who make about $22,000 a year).
This has nothing to do with political perspective, it has to do with financial priorities for education.
Do you realize how dangerous the implication of your question is?
What’s next? Start burning books?
Nothing is stopping conservatives from becoming teachers except maybe their own personal greed and narcissism. Sounds like an issue you should take up with the GOP.
A liberal education system sure is healthy; it’s less restrictive and much more progressive. It allows our children to combine their world experiences and use them to decide their own paths rather than having career paths/ college paths set in stone. Studies have shown that students who design their own major (a liberal approach) carry more mental capacity than those who simply subscribe to a pre-made major. I know best about college, so I am best able to convey the importance of a liberal education to our children. By the way, I completely side-stepped politics seeing as most teachers suppress their world views and patriotism (or lack thereof) in their teaching. So to wrap it all up, the liberal approach is FAR more effective in letting children do what best suits them, which in turn results in better productivity.
Since conservatives are against taxes they could hardly accept a job paid for with taxes.
healthy and liberal should never be used in the same sentence, liberalism is a mental illness which often fuels hate, racism, violence and greed at least that has been the case more often than not in the last few years
the liberal left knows that they must indoctrinate young, impressionable minds because once people grow up and understand how the real world works they will never fall for liberal insanity
There is no question why schools are failures with predominantly liberal teachers. They’re not teaching kids anymore. They’re little more than indoctrination factories that thrive on the fantasy that forcing different people together will cause them to learn to like each other.
Why on earth should anyone hide their political view from students? It’s not a teachers job to hide information from kids.
And if your political view requires it’s subscribers to be ignorant of certain things, then maybe you should consider the possibility that your political view is just wrong.
The cure for stupidity is not LESS education.
thats just what happens when the more educated group of people tend to be liberal.
the more educated you are, the more liberal you become.
and the math-science scores of the US have nothing to do with liberal vs conservative (i mean if you think conservatives would solve that problem then you must consider that many fundamentalist conservatives still believe in literal biblical creation :/)
also what in the hell are you trying to say? that having more conservative teachers would somehow have a radical impact on american society?–i dont think so.
and whats liberal math?? lol. i can see how history can easily be liberal or conservative…but UGH! this question makes no sense.
